Yves Netzhammer

Born in 1970 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, Yves Netzhammer graduated in Visual Communication from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 1995. Since then, he has been working on a widely diverse, poetic cosmos of imagery, developing a unique computer animation style. His video installations, objects, slideshows and drawings fascinate through their bodily charisma and formal clarity. The playful recombination of elements which seemingly cannot be combined leads to the threshold of our existence’s dark side: soothing aspects interlock with displeasing ones, the dead melds with the living to become creatures never seen before, and the scale of depicted scenarios runs from microscopic to giant. His solo exhibitions include FOSUN Foundation Shanghai, MONA Tasmania, SFMOMA San Francisco, Venice Biennale Swiss Pavilion, Liverpool Biennale, Kunsthalle Bremen, Haus Konstruktiv Zurich, Kunstmuseum Solothurn and Kunstmuseum Bern. His animated shorts were presented, among others, at Venice and Rotterdam film festivals.
