Some time has passed since I started living with animation. nuQ’s evolution has not been like climbing stairs, but more like climbing, going down and getting lost over and over again in the mountains called “animation”, “illustration”, “painting” and “design”. During this talk session, I will be showing past work and new unreleased work while discussing how I live my life as an artist and how my style has changed over the years. The popularity of “Concept”, my wish to watch living toys from above, how I find it a good deal to draw on a broken computer with just one finger, and much more. (nuQ)

For this nonsensical animation,30 pictures per second were produced with only pencil tool.A man stretches out his arm and grasp the night view of a distant city NEW TOKYO. He and female companion rush down the length of his arm toward the city lights.The work is defined by a speedy style and comical pictures that express the sense of omnipotence derived from coming into a large sum of money and folly of letting happiness slip through your hands.

Futako isn’t quite like other girls. Made from the recycled scraps of last year’s fireworks, she is counting down the days until August 31st, when her body is fated to burst at the next annual fireworks display. However, over an intervening year packed with memories, Futako has forgotten how to soar into the night sky and shine. Will a peculiar ritual allow Futako to reconnect with her instincts in time to fulfill her destiny? This innovative animated short tells the story of a forced reincarnation, probing a life’s arc from improbable conception to preordained culmination in three explosive, brilliant seconds.
