EXHIBITIONS & WORKSHOPS

Animation Workshop
”A Journey Through Time”

Enjoy a trip through your memories with this interactive animation workshop!
Join Asaki Nishino and Nia Alavezos in a fun and relaxing workshop that blends the Welsh word Hiraeth, meaning a “deep longing for something in one’s past, especially one's home,” and the Japanese equivalent of 懐かしい.
Participants will be encouraged to draw a place they long for or a place from their childhood they love. The end product will be made into an animation, featuring a Welsh dragon character visiting each location.

PROFILE

NISHINO Asaki
NISHINO Asaki

Born in Tokyo in 1994, NISHINO Asaki began creating moving images while studying in the Department of Information Design, Media Art Course at Tama Art University. In 2022, she completed an MFA in Animation at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media.
Exploring how reality is perceived in the post-Internet era, Nishino works across short-form animation and music. Her graduation film nowhere received the Grand Prize at the Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA and has been screened at numerous international film festivals.
Upon graduating, she co-founded the animation collective Oh Hey Do with two peers. In 2024, the group produced its first short film The Countryside Planet, alongside exhibitions and screenings. Guided by the belief that “the seemingly useless” can serve as a lens to reconsider society and human complexity, they seek to resist the homogenizing tendencies of contemporary culture through animation.
