Music Animation Competition

A “dense” program to enjoy music videos and other works with synchronization of sound and movement. A movie for a dance game, a collaboration of handwriting and generative AI, psychedelia, metamorphose, bricolage, explosion, vertigo, lifeform beyond the physical body, meditation, an echo of ghostly memory and intense sign of death, a train that runs on a rail of thoughts. Be ready to shower yourself with these intense images that you can hardly keep up with!

Max Hattler

Max Hattler’s experimental animation works explore relationships between abstraction and figuration, aesthetics and politics, sound and image, and precision and improvisation. Max holds a BA in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths, an MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art, and a Doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London. He has performed live at Sonar Hong Kong, Seoul Museum of Art, EXPO Milano and the European Media Art Festival. He is a Professor at School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong.

HOSHIMIYA TOTO is a VR singer without a physical body. At their live performances, many audience members are enthralled by their flat avatars on the screen. It is as if a physical being is there, The desire to become one with them separates our body and spirit. The line between reality and VR is very blurred today. Our psyche, which has left the body, is becoming a new life form, combining, disintegrating, and replacing each other. The classic motif of ”body and spirit”, is depicted through a VR singer in this music video.
