AKETARA Sirome – Illustrated Mural

An illustrated mural that painted live by AKETARA Sirome (this year’s festival main visual artist) at the Airport Art Festival held on October 20th 2024, will be on display.

Artist

AKETARA Sirome

Born in 1988. A monochrome painter and the father of two. He is working on a story about Shiro and Melo, twins living on a futuristic Earth. He also created a dictionary with drawings to communicate with people who don’t speak the same language.
He was selected to participate in the Music Illustration Awards in 2020, Motion Graphic Creators 100 in 2022, and for a special exhibition at Project to Support Emerging Media Arts Creators in 2024.

AR Coloring Workshop

AR Coloring Animation Workshop – You can draw, then animate multiple coloring pictures with ‘Kitpas,’ crayons made from rice bran. Enjoy the experience of having your drawings come to life.
*Kitpas is a product developed by Nihon Rikagaku Industry (Kanagawa Prefecture).

AR workshop designers:TOCHKA

In 1998, they formed the filmmaker/creative duo “TOCHKA”. They invented the animation production method “PiKA PiKA”, which combines the techniques of long exposure photography and stop motion animation. By using light to draw lines in the air, anyone can create animation. TOCHKA’s fields of activity range from experimental animation to contemporary art.

Their film “PiKA PiKA Lightning Doodle Project” won the Grand Prix in the Lab Competition at International Short Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand 2008. Their film “TRACK” won the Grand Prix in the non-narrative short category at Holland Animation Film Festival 2016

NEWVIEW PORT SHOWCASE 2024

“Airport Piano” Live Drawing

 New Chitose Airport’s street piano, the “Airport Piano,” appears in the Centre Plaza for a limited time.
On 2 November from 13:00, artists will perform live drawings on the piano itself and play the piano.

YUKI Yoko

She creates video arts and painting in a variety of materials inspired by everyday events. Her current short ”In the Big Yard Inside the Teeny-Weeny Pocket/Mini-Mini-Pokke no Okina Niwa de” premiered in 75th Locarno Film Festival in Pardi di domani section, and has been selected for the 40th Sundance Film Festival and others.

AOIKE Mayuko

Grew up in Sapporo. After graduating from Musashino Art University’s Department of Crafts and Industrial Design with a major in glass, she worked as an assistant to traditional craftsman Yasuhiro Hirakawa at the Osaka scissors blacksmith “Sasuke,” while also performing music (gamelan, improvisation, singing with the guitar, etc.).
Currently, as a designer and artist at “Design Atelier BLUEPOND,” she creates with glass materials with the aim of “adding light to life,” and develops accessories, small items, and sound-related objects. She is a composer and singer in music group “Wataame.”
