JINSEI

Synopsis

A taciturn boy who was bullied living in a housing complex in Tohoku, Japan, begins to follow the same path as his father, becoming an idol, when he meets a new student. That was just the beginning of his tumultuous life. This animated feature film depicts the life of a man who has earned several names while following a strange destiny, reflecting real-life social issues such as the darkness of the entertainment industry, accidents caused by elderly drivers, disparities, and wars.

PROFILE

SUZUKI Ryuya

Ryuya Suzuki was born in 1994 in Miyagi Prefecture. After graduating from university, he aspired to become a live-action director, but drifted away and became a hired manager at an oyster bar in Kabukicho. His self-taught animated short films won numerous awards at independent film festivals in Japan, and “Tatsuya Suzuki: Three Men” will be released in theaters in 2022. He raised funds for the production of “Mumyo no Jinsei” (An Unnamed Life) through a fundraising campaign, and spent a year and a half at his parents’ house in Sendai, Japan, working entirely on the film by himself.
