The installation ‘Touch on an Absence’ will be held in Tokyo from July 5th to July 15th.
It’s a new project by the artist Tabaimo, well-known for animated installations that use drawings and coloration evoking the hand-made nature of traditional Japanese woodblock prints, in collaboration with three filmmakers who are nominees for the Short Film category in NEW CHITOSE 2023.

When Tabaimo participated as a jury member at the “New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival 2023”, she rediscovered the depth of the world of animation. Inspired by this experience, she created this new project with three independent animation filmmakers she met there: Josh SHAFFNER (USA), Lea VIDAKOVIC (Serbia), and Stephen VUILLEMIN (France). By contextualizing the films of the three filmmakers within the realm of art in collaboration with Tabaimo, this work establishes a multi-layered relationship between animation and audiences, crafting an experiential installation that invites deep engagement and exploration.
