To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Chitose Airport Opening, this program presents a special screening of Studio Ghibli’s "Porco Rosso", directed by MIYAZAKI Hayao. Aviation in Chitose began in 1926, and the film is also set in the 1920s. Set against the vast skies MIYAZAKI loves, this grand aviation adventure returns to the big screen.
SYNOPSIS
In the 1920s, sky pirates ran rampant over the Adriatic Sea. Porco Rosso, a seaplane pilot who makes his living as a bounty hunter, rescues a group of schoolgirls attacked by his longtime rivals, the Mamma Aiuto Gang. Porco is a man who, for reasons of his own, cast a spell on himself and took the form of a pig. Gina, the owner of the Hotel Adriano, is his childhood friend and knew him before his transformation. Several days later, while flying to Milan to have his seaplane serviced, Porco is shot down by an American pilot named Curtis…
