Synopsis

I got a camera with a built-in printer that lets me print photos right after taking them. The photos aren’t saved; when you take a picture, you either print it or delete it. I rephotographed these prints one by one. A record of Wakkanai, Rebun, and Rishiri—in the far northern tip of Japan, Hokkaido.

PROFILE

SATO Yuka

Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Animation artist. Graduate of the Graduate School of Hokkaido University of Education. Creates abstract animations using intaglio and relief printmaking techniques, as well as stop-motion animations made from everyday materials. In recent years, she has also created “clojector, ” a work featuring film made of fabric and a projector.
